Step inside and experience the cosiness of our quaint parlour in the historic Frettwurst country inn. Located in the picturesque Kaschau in the Vorpommern region, between Greifswald and Stralsund, we look back on a long and eventful history, which is closely connected with that of the famous innkeeper Lebrecht Frettwurst. Here you can not only enjoy our delicious, regional specialities enjoy themselves, but also find suitable premises for every occasion and event.
We spoil you and your palate daily with a fresh, seasonal cuisine with products from the region. Whether you prefer classic dishes, game, vegetarian or vegan options. Everyone will find their favourite dish here. And for those with a sweet tooth, we offer regionally produced ice cream from BoddenLandEis and freshly baked cakes.

Book your table at our Frettwurst country inn and enjoy our regional delicacies in a cosy atmosphere. We recommend booking your table at least 24 hours in advance. You will receive a reservation confirmation.

We gladly accept short-term reservations by telephone on +49 (0)38326 – 45830 Your reservation is held for 30 minutes. After this time, table reservations will be released and your table will be given to other guests.

Our bar, „ANNAs ECK“ (Anna's Corner), named after one of Lebrecht Frettwurst's sisters, invites you for cosy evenings. We don't just mix classic cocktails for you, but also the latest creations and long drinks. At „ANNAs ECK“, we have over eleven whiskies, more than ten different types of gin, as well as various types of vodka on offer. For those who prefer it without alcohol, we naturally also have non-alcoholic cocktails in our bar. Regional and fresh ingredients are close to our hearts, which is why we work with freshly squeezed juices and herbs. Of course, you can also enjoy beer or wine at our bar "ANNAs ECK".
In our bar, we also offer you various Tastings during which you will also learn a lot of exciting information and special features. Whether you're just taking a short break for a smoke or want to fully savour your tobacco enjoyment with a relaxing drink – smokers don't have to go without cigars, cigarettes and the like in our otherwise non-smoking hotel. Our smokers„ lounge offers the perfect ambiance for optimal relaxation during a pleasant smoking break. The stylish lounge is equipped with comfortable leather armchairs and inviting seating areas and is located right next to our bar “ANNAs ECK". From here, you can enjoy the view of the golf course during your enjoyable break.

Handmade at the country inn

Our culinary heroes from the Frettwurst country inn not only prepare fresh regional dishes in our restaurant but also produce their own regional specialities. Nicely packaged, we offer regional products for you to take home, for journeys or as gifts.

Our range includes handmade sausage specialities, such as liver pâté, wild boar salami and wild boar ham. We also offer Frettwurst schnapps, 7 Pächter Gin, mulled wine (seasonal), pestos and various fruit spreads. All products are made from predominantly regional ingredients, packaged in an environmentally friendly way and produced without artificial additives.

Our regional delicacies are available at reception in the log cabin – also as gift baskets in two sizes.

Old Times – The Story

The Frettwurst country inn is located in the village of Kaschow. This village has the nickname “Kaiserreich” (Empire). The coinage of this term is often associated with the Frettwurst family who used to live here. For several generations, they ran the local pub, in contrast to the farms of the tenant farmers on their own land. Reason enough for a pub landlord to claim he was the Emperor of Kaschow…

What could be more fitting than picking up the thread that was dropped back then? Let us spoil you with culinary delights at the Landgasthof Frettwurst and transport you back to the time of Lebrecht Frettwurst. The village of Kaschow

„He'll be persuaded and go to Kaschow with them,“ is how people here used to joke in their Low German dialect when someone ended up in this place. When Kaschow became Prussian after the „Swedish era,“ seven tenants managed the Prussian domain land. The Frettwurst country inn and our other buildings are located on a former farmstead of these tenants. It is recorded in the Pomeranian address book: Farmstead. Tenant: Albert Rademacher, area 77 ha, of which 56 ha is arable land, 8 horses, 43 cattle, of which 18 are cows, 80 pigs. This is where the name „Rademacher's Festival Barn“ comes from.

Frettwurst Country Inn

Albert Rademacher's stable stood at the location where our Frettwurst Country Inn is today until 2005. It was intended that the building would be converted into a country inn. Due to various structural defects, the conversion could not be realised and the building was demolished. The Frettwurst Country Inn was built with regional craftsmen, also using the old stones from the stable. Today, the team at Golfpark Strealsund is delighted to welcome you to the premises of the Frettwurst Country Inn.

The Kaiserreich of Kaschow!

After finishing work, people liked to go to the Frettwurst family's village pub. It was last run by Lebrecht and his sisters Anna and Klara. Lebrecht's pub must have also appealed to the people from Grimmen. On Sundays, they enjoyed taking a walk through the town forest and the adjacent grassland to Lebrecht's village pub, the „Kaiserreich Kaschow“. Our village bears the nickname „Kaiserreich Kaschow“. According to an anecdote, this is said to be connected to the Frettwursts. Unlike the tenant farms, their pub was on its own land. That was reason enough for a Frettwurst to call himself the „Kaiser of Kaschow“ in public. Yes, so an empire is said to have originated here. Get to know the Kaiserreich and enjoy our fresh regional cuisine at the Frettwurst country inn.

In the Kaiserreich Kaschow, there are pig races

It still happens nowadays that anyone mentioning the place Kaschow is told by locals: „In the Kaschow Empire, it's piglet racing.“ No one knows exactly what this saying is about. But is that so important? The people here just have a special kind of humour. For you, at the Frettwurst country inn, we have „Piglet Race in the Empire“ on our menu.

Good heavens

The Swedes came and went. Kaschow also once belonged to Swedish Pomerania. In the early nineteenth century, this region fell to Prussia after more than 170 years of Swedish rule. Many an old Swede found his final rest here. The Swedish grave in the local cemetery bears witness to this. In memory of the Swedish era, why not enjoy a Swedish ice cream sundae at the Frettwurst country inn.

Teacher Man-eater

Were the schoolchildren in Kaschow looking forward to lessons? The village school consisted of two classrooms. The teacher taught four year groups simultaneously. Besides his pupils, teacher Karl Manfraß also had 50 bee colonies to tend to. When they swarmed, lessons were naturally cancelled. Today, you can hold your meetings in peace in our „Manfraß Teachers“ Room" conference room and enjoy a cosy meal in the Frettwurst country inn. Klara Frettwurst

Klara was overcome with panic at the lightning and thunder. She then hid in a cupboard with a blanket over her head. Now the coast was clear for the naughty boys from the village, who quickly stole a few sweets from the counter of their village shop. Under Klara’s bed was a barrel of herring, from which she sold fish. Today, you can no longer buy herring from Klara’s barrel. However, you can enjoy freshly caught specialities in various delicious variations at the Frettwurst country inn.

Lebrecht Frettwurst

Directly opposite our graveyard with the little chapel stood house number 9. That was Lebrecht's pub. Lebrecht was said to have drunk far too much. And so, it happened as it had to. When he was cycling home once again, tipsy, he was hit by a vehicle shortly before Grimmen. He did not survive the accident. Even though his grave is lost, eyewitnesses claim that he rests in peace in the small graveyard. He is also said to have told guests, who had ordered abockwurst (ger.), that they should be patient. He would mount his bicycle (don't be alarmed when cyclist Lebrecht Frettwurst crosses your path upon entering the Frettwurst country inn) and cycle to Grimmen to buy the bockwurst there. In our Frettwurst country inn, we serve you fresh regional dishes, and you won't have to wait until we've fetched them by bicycle.
